Virginia Pearl Hames was born September 24, 1926 to Edward F. and Augusta S. Bruns. She was born and raised in Sandy, and graduated from Sandy High School.
She worked for the Veteran’s Administration upon graduation, held other business and accounting positions, and completed her career as Deputy Clerk for the Oregon Trail School District.
Ginny married her husband, Ralph Hames in Portland on February 20, 1946.
Other than a year spent in Ashland at the beginning of their marriage, Ginny and Ralph lived and worked in the Sandy area.
They enjoyed traveling, fishing, painting, camping, long drives together, and snow birding in/to Arizona. Most of all, they enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Ginny worked tirelessly on behalf of her children’s interests. She was involved in Brownies, Cub Scouts, youth groups at her church, and AFS.
Ginny and Ralph enjoyed many friendships in the Sandy area including the Mariners of the Presbyterian Church. She was also very active in Tops Club, The Sandy Women’s Club, as well as the Bible Belles of Boring. Ginny also loved gardening, painting, day trips with family, and entertaining people in her home with delicious home cooked meals. When it came to her family, she enjoyed preparing each grandchild’s favorite dish.
Ginny is survived by her children, Charlotte Painter (Garry), Roddy Hames, Cheryl Johnson (Keith), seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In gratitude for kind care from hospice, the family suggests contributions be made to hospice services.
