Wayne Allen Lewis was born to Herbert and Bessie Lewis on August 26, 1943, in Portland, Oregon. Wayne “Pops” died surrounded by family on March 3, 2022, after complications from colon cancer.
Wayne was Active Duty Navy from 1961-1963, served in Vietnam in a Mobile Construction Battalion and then in the Navy Reserves from 1963-1974 as an Electrician. He also retired after working for 40 Years in the IBEW Electrical Union following in his father’s footsteps. He was a member of the Columbia Country CBers, an avid bowler and briefly owned an auto repair shop.
“Pops” leaves behind 3 children, Ivy Scazzafavo, Wayne Lewis Jr. & Travis Brewster as well as 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. He also was commonly referred to as “the Mountain Grandpa” by countless Welches School students and friends’ children!
He loved to tell stories and jokes to anyone who would listen, had some true lifelong friends, and unconditionally loved his family. After surviving a heart attack in 2009 he lived with son Travis & family, including 4 of his Grandkids, and enjoyed following them around to their various sports and activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 other siblings, Lillian, Herbert Jr., Rickie & Randy as well as his wife Jeanne Ann Lewis who passed away in February of 2007.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Pops wanted us to have a party!
