Former Sandy resident, Wesley Kent died in Portland on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. He was 93.
A private burial will be held at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
Wesley Martin Kent was born on March 1, 1915 in Kankakee, Illinois to Owen and Katherine Kent. He was raised and received his schooling in Kankakee. After graduating from high school he entered the CCC where he met his future wife to be. On October 18, 1939 Wes was united in marriage to Alice Norton at the “Little Brown Church” in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Wisconsin where they began their family and Wes pursued his career as a bookkeeper.
In 1958, Wes and Alice moved to Sandy and was employed at Sandy Lumber as a bookkeeper until retiring. In 1967, they moved to Portland where they made their permanent home and enjoyed retirement.
Mr. Kent was a member of Sandy Baptist Chapel. Wes took much pride in his 1964 Studebaker which he drove until he was in his mid 80’s.
Wes is survived by his son, David Kent and his wife Karen; his grandson, Daniel Kent and his wife Sharon; his granddaughter, Deborah Earp and husband Shane; his great granddaughters, Jolene, Jaylene and Kendra; his great grandsons, D.J. and Devin all of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
