Sandy resident Bill Ferrante, 90, died at his home Saturday September 29, 2012 with his family by his side.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Sandy Funeral Home on Saturday October 6, 2012 at 1PM. A reception will follow at the Sandy Senior Center.
William Kenneth Ferrante was born September 5, 1922 in Portland, Oregon to Ernest J. and Mary (Gallia) Ferrante. He was raised in the Portland area. Bill attended Cleveland High School and was drafted by the Army in his senior year.
After completing his service as a Corpsman Bill returned to Portland and started his career in Liquor sales. He married Irene Valpani in Portland on October 4, 1945 and they began their family. Bill continued in the liquor industry and after almost 43 years with the OLCC he retired as Area Supervisor in 1985.
Bill loved hunting, fishing, camping and casino gambling. He also enjoyed playing the piano and accordion.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Irene, daughter Lorraine Lawson of Sandy, sons Ron of Bend, Mark of Clackamas and Bob of Sandy, daughter Gina Dahlke of Gresham; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son Gary.
The family suggests contributions be made to Doernbecher Childrens Hospital.
